I found this amazing photo from chotda while searching Google for “books organized by color” since this is what my project was today for my huge stacks of books in the bedroom. I wanted to arrange them by color and my variation is a tad different.
I made small sections of each color of books, and then laid some of the piles horizontally on out TV shelving console; sort of as book-ends. Then I added some family photos on top of each horizontal one. I really love the way it turned out. But I am still in complete awe of this photo….If only I had more room to amass a ton more books…LOL! I already have way too many!!!

This is wonderful & would so fun to do if I had that many books, or colors for that matter! It’s still a fun idea, thanks!

Wow! I love this. I wish I was this organized. I did a little bookshelf in my hallway something like this, but nothing this great.

I have mine separated by subject and then by self, but I really like what you have. Brilliant, and much more visually attractive. I may have to reconsider my organizational strategy.
Cheers,

I have all my novels and children’s books organized by color. Reference are in a separate room all together. I love the color separation and find it like artwork in my book shelf: http://www.oliveandlove.com/2010/01/color-coordinated-home-library.html

This is great. I could never do it because I like my books sorted by subject then size. I can’t stand the color variants though so my solution might be to cover them all in parchment paper. It protects them too.
Can you show pictures of your project?
