On those nights when you have trouble sleeping, and have had it with counting sheep, let a Sleep Angel carry you off on the strength of her tiny lavender-scented wings to the land of sweet dreams.

As I keep telling everybody, lavender has calming and sedative effects, so what better place for it than on your bed to help you blissfully drift off to la-la-land.

Sleep Angels are dolls made from linen, filled with polyfill and with this season’s crop of sweet-smelling dried lavender flowers from Provence. As somebody who can sleep anywhere (even on a moving bus with her head occasionally banging on the glass window), I’ve also tucked in a bit of my amazing sleep energies somewhere in there!

Each Sleep Angel is meticulously and carefully made using free-hand sewing machine embroidery, as well as some hand-embroidery. Measures 6.5 x 4 inches or 16.5 x 10.2 cm. Contains from 5 to 8 grams of dried lavender flowers. Made from linen. It will come to you packaged in a recycled cloth bag, all ready for gift-giving.

Welcome to my shop! Many of my pieces feature my hand lettered calligraphy and hand drawn designs that I’ve chemically etched into sterling silver. Each piece is handmade; no two are exactly alike, although some may be similar. The text pieces feature positive words, thoughts and affirmations that reflect upon life well-lived.

I have always loved lettering. One of my earliest memories is attempting to copy my mom’s cursive by making scribbled, nonsensical loops. I couldn’t yet read, but I adored her handwriting. Nine years ago I began to study calligraphy, taking a variety of classes from accomplished lettering artists. About three years ago I experimented with etching my lettering into copper. What began as an interest in a new medium for my calligraphy evolved into a fascination with metal and metalsmithing and jewelry making. Combining two skills I enjoy so much is truly a pleasure.

When I’m not lettering and designing jewelry, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our pets (2 dogs, 3 cats), letterpress printing, reading, working in my organic garden, observing birds and other wild creatures, and exploring the beauty of nature. I also enjoy spinning and knitting and appreciate the many wonderful fiber artists here on etsy.

My favorite quote is “Nothing is worth more than this day” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. I strive to cherish every moment.

Faith Necklace $40.00

I hand cut and shaped this sterling silver pendant and then etched my hand lettered “faith” into the silver. I oxidized this piece and then hand finished it, giving it a textured, brushed finish and leaving the recessed lettering darker. The pendant hangs from a 16″ brown leather cord and measures approximately 15/16″ x 11/16″.
