Dr. Brene’ Brown talks in this Ted Talk about shame, authenticity, connection, wholeheartedness, fear, perfectionism, worthiness, and vulnerability. As a researcher and social worker, she talks about compassion, courage, bravery, and the ability to live wholeheartedly. She explores how many people live life with fear and shame and the inability to connect and feel belonging.
Wholehearted people have a willingness to live without fear. They fundamentally believe that “what makes you vulnerable makes you beautiful.”
Joy, gratitude and happiness come from living wholeheartedly. She says we should tell our children they are all imperfect beings destined for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging.
Brene’ say the way to wholeheartedness is this:
Let oursleves be seen. Deeply seen. Love with our whole hearts, even though there is no guarantee. Practice gratitude and joy. To feel vulnerable means I’m alive. We should say to ourselves: I AM ENOUGH.
